Culinary Code-Switching – Red Dot Flavor
Code-switching is a linguistics term that describes someone ability to change between multiple languages, language variants or dialects in a single conversation. Singaporeans have a reputation for habitual code-switching in everyday conversation, but the habit doesn’t just apply to what comes out from our mouths; we code-switch what goes into them as well. Be it breakfast, lunch, teatime, dinner, supper or snacks, a Singaporean can easily consumed a wide variety of cuisine in our everyday live.
This pendant is inspired from the three most common utensils people in Singapore uses – spoon, fork and chopstick. The form and structure of the pendant derives from the shape of the head of each utensil and a ruby was also set on the bottom right to show the location of Singapore in Southeast Asia.
